Employee Assistance Programs

There has been a rapid increase in compensation claims for work-related stress in recent years (Dyer, 2002). A Court of Appeal ruling in 2002 (Sutherland v. Hatton, 2002) made it clear that employees who feel under stress at work should inform their employers and give them a chance to do something about it. Any employer who offers a confidential counselling service with access to treatment has some protection from prosecution.

Managing long-term sickness is a challenge and some companies choose to take on the problem themselves. But sickness is costing employers so much money each year, can your company afford to take on such a complex and demanding task without our expert help.

An effective Employee Assistance Programme can provide a highly valued low cost benefit available to all employees of the company and members of their family household. It can also provide a confidential 24/7 telephone based resource to discuss any personal or work related issue, whether a practical or emotional matter. Where this does not take away the problem, it will hopefully mean that recovery and return to work are more easily managed and quicker.

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss these services should you feel that they would be of use and our senior corporate consultant, Steve Brice will be happy to talk through your requirements
